Micheal Dale Kasson, 71, of Denver, passed away on May 20, 2019.
He was born May 2, 1948 in Denver, the son of the late Allen and Mabel (Crader) Kasson. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Denver in 1966. On March 2, 1969 he married Cheryl Goldstein.
He attended college at Metro State, taking classes in mechanical engineering, and Arapahoe Community College, taking jewelry-making and other art classes. He worked at a number of jobs over the years, starting as a millwright apprentice, and later working as a central supply tech in Children's Hospital in Washington, DC and St. Joseph Hospital in Denver. He also worked at various places as a mechanical drafter and welder, and as a computer tech and warehouse machine repair tech at Shamrock Foods in Commerce City, CO.
After his retirement in 2013, he devoted himself to his jewelry-making and other artwork, and he was active in the Denver Art Society as a co-op and board member. His other interests included cat care, rock collecting, fishing, camping, attending folk music and other concerts, and following the news on various media. He and his wife traveled all over the United States and to British Columbia. He also traveled to Ireland and England with his wife, daughter, and mother-in-law, the late Rhetta Turkin Goldstein.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, his daughter, Erica, his son-in-law, Tek, his sisters, Anita (Kasson) Powe and Doris (Kasson) Pulscher, his brother-in-law, Ron Pulscher, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Mabel Kasson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cat Care Society, the Denver Art Society, or your favorite public media outlets.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 12:00pm at the Newcomer West Metro Chapel, 901 S. Sheridan Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80226, with a catered reception to follow.
