Michele Lynne Seitz was born in Denver, Colorado on February 28, 1948, the second of 3 girls born to Louise and John Wesley (Jack) Tiernan. She lived her whole life in Denver. She graduated from West High School in 1966 and worked as an operator at Lowry Air Force Base, where she met Joseph Seitz, who was serving in the Air Force, and they were married on November 16, 1968. She was a homemaker and mom to her 4 children for several years. When they were older, she worked at Mile High Kennel Club as a cashier. After her divorce in 1981, she worked at Fred Spoerl and Associates as a purchasing agent, and then for the US Bureau of Mines as a Contracting Officer until the Bureau shut down in 1995. After a brief time working for the State of Colorado, Michele returned to federal service at the Fish and Wildlife Service as a Realty Specialist, preserving land in perpetuity to protect wildlife habitat. She retired from the Service after 26 years in 2010. She enjoyed her retirement with her children around her until her death on October 11, 2022.
Michele was a strong, independent thinker and was passionate about the people and issues she cared about. She was a fierce and loyal mother and friend. She was a proud Denver native. She loved her children, football, animals, and just causes - not necessarily in that order. (wink, wink) She was a die-hard Bronco fan and never missed a game on TV. (We learned to stay away if the Broncos lost.) She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She loved going to Las Vegas or up to Black Hawk to play the slots. She was an avid reader, loved to play cards, have fun with her family, and watch every crime show that aired on TV. She loved her time alone. She fed the neighborhood critters - birds, squirrels, cats and the occasional raccoon or skunk! She gave generously to her favorite charities. She had a green thumb - she grew 15-foot pampas grass and 200-pound pumpkins! She was a fantastic bowler and played for many years. She sewed clothes for her children and was a good cook. Her favorite meal was meatloaf and mashed potatoes. She would have loved to travel more, but her illness prevented it. She fought hard and stayed strong until the end.
Michele is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Louise Tiernan, and a sister, Patricia Metzger. She is survived by a sister, Jacque (Eddie) Warchesik of Peyton, her nieces Cindy Henry of Lakewood, Brigette (Mike) Smith of Morrison, and Bonnie Warchesik of Aurora; her nephew John Warchesik of Ordway; her 4 children, Beth (Pete) Greenwald of Denver, Christy (Asher) Rose of Denver, Amy (Doug) Grosch of Guffey, and Joseph (Maru) Seitz of Denver, as well as 10 grandchildren - Ian, Casey, Chase, Elijah, Sam, Grace, Katy, Abby, Ana-Paula and Maria-Jose.
