Miles A. Gravgaard was born in Hallock, MN in 1946 to Evelyn Fertig Gravgaard and Milton Archie Gravgaard. He was the oldest of two children. His mom often said that the reason his younger brother was still alive was because Tom could run faster.
As a family they moved to Aztec, NM when Miles graduated from Aztec High. He was drafted into the Army and served in Germany during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to New Mexico her met is wife, Betty Pine, and they were married in 1969. Miles graduated from New Mexico State with high honors in Accounting. They moved to Colorado, the place he always wanted to live and raise a family.
He coached youth baseball and loved the game of baseball. He worked the Rockies games in guest relations for nineteen years and loved the contact with the guests. He was also an avid Broncos fan.
