Monta-Glea Trebilcock, a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, in Golden, Colorado, at the age of 85. Born on August 8, 1939, in Great Bend, Kansas, Monta-Glea's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to family, education, and adventure.
A dedicated educator, Monta-Glea's career began in 1960 with the Jefferson County Public Schools, where she left an indelible mark at Maple Grove Elementary and Lasley Elementary. Her dedication to teaching extended beyond the classroom as she served as a substitute teacher and support for homebound students until 1991. In a turn of great significance to her later years, she transitioned to work with the National Park Service, where she found fulfillment until her retirement in January 2002.
Monta-Glea's educational journey led her from elementary and high school in Otis, Kansas, to Fort Hays Kansas State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree. This foundation fueled her love for learning and her passion for nurturing young minds, a commitment that she carried throughout her life.
Those who knew or met Monta-Glea would fondly remember her vibrant personality—stubborn yet loving, devoted, hospitable, social, and caring. She radiated warmth and created lasting connections with everyone she encountered. Monta-Glea cherished her grandchildren, often attending sporting events to support them, and she was a devoted Denver Broncos fan, proudly holding season tickets for over 20 years.
Her creativity shone through in her hobbies; Monta-Glea had a passion for crafting, particularly knitting and sewing. Year after year, she delighted her family with handmade Halloween costumes, making each celebration memorable. Her adventurous spirit with her husband, Charles, carried them to all 50 states and beyond, including remarkable road trips to Alaska and Mexico City. One of their most treasured memories was a flight with Charles piloting a Cessna 72 to the World Fair in New York City in 1964, surrounded by laughter and new experiences.
Monta-Glea is survived by her beloved husband, Charles; their son, Lance (Charlene); their daughter, Lynne (Jason); and their cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Avé, Annika, and Jackson. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched, reminding us all of the strength of love, the joy of adventure, and the importance of family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Verna Brack, who surely welcomed her with open arms. Monta-Glea leaves behind a beautiful tapestry of memories woven with love, laughter, and a passion for life that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
