Myrna Anderson

September 27, 1934 — February 9, 2019

Myrna Kay Anderson, 84, of Denver, CO passed away on February 3, 2019.

She was born to Emma & Rev. Kenneth Hooe on September 27, 1934 in Lincoln, IL. She graduated from High School in Rock Island, Illinois in 1952. Myrna married the late James Leland Anderson in 1963. They moved to Denver, Colorado the same year, where they raised four children. Myrna went on to get her Bachelor of Arts and later her Masters of Education from University of Denver.

Myrna taught in the Denver Public Schools elementary grades until she retired in 1985. She was passionate about children and teaching; especially helping the less fortunate where she taught in Denver's Headstart program. She carried her teaching skills over to caring for her six grandchildren where she made learning fun. Playdates were also educational.

Jim and Myrna were active in their church, participating in small groups at Cherry Hills Presbyterian until they moved to Brookdale Assisted Living in 2010. They also loved to travel and take occasional trips to Black Hawk for entertainment. Their greatest pastime was sports! They loved the Colorado Rockies, but even more so the Broncos. Their Broncos season tickets were first purchased in the late 1960's and remain in the family today.

Myrna is survived by four children: Colleen Bolejack, Kent (Tamara) Anderson, Noreen (Jim) Schilling and Karen (Tom) Goddard. She also is survived by six grandchildren: Matt Bolejack, Natalie (Blake) Brescian, Shane Goddard, Joshua Anderson, Holly Goddard and Molly Anderson; and one great-grandson: Grayson Brescian. She is preceded in death by her two siblings fondly known as Aunt Enid & Uncle Bud.

Services will be held on February 21st at 11:00 am at Ft. Logan National Cemetery Shelter/Staging Area A, where Myrna will be interred next to James Anderson at a later ceremony. A reception with their family will be held at El Tapatio at 3601 South Wadsworth Blvd, beginning approximately 12:00 noon.
