Myron "George" McCorkle
Myron "George" McCorkle passed away peacefully in his hometown of Aurora, Colorado on February 17th, 2022 at the age of 81, surrounded by family.
George was born on May 9th, 1940 in Athol, Kansas, the son of Mable and Harold McCorkle. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mae McDonald, and brothers Howard, Scott, Don and Bob McCorkle. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Verda "Marty"; son Michael Alexander, of Aurora, Colorado, daughter Michelle (Scott) Butterfield of Westminster, Colorado, and daughter Peggy McCorkle of Amarillo, Texas; Grandchildren Jamie (Josh) Knighton of Amarillo, Texas, Zachary (Sarah) Baker of Aurora, Colorado, Kellie (Michael) Sebastian of Richardson, Texas, and Ashley (Keith) Carnwath of Colorado Springs, Colorado. George was also survived by his sister Jane Trent of Phillpsburg, Kansas, sister-in-law Roma McCorkle of Sebetha, Kansas, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965-1968 as a E5 Technical Sargeant Foreign Services in Germany.
George lived a full and happy life. He enjoyed spending time with his family at many get togethers, attending car shows with his award winning '38 Ford pickup, spending time at his cabin and on his boat at Horsetooth Lake in Fort Collins, visiting with his many friends, and spending time with his fellows at the Paul Beck American Legion Post 23.
The family would like to express our thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Denver Hospice in Aurora.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 28th at the Newcomer Mortuary, 190 Potomac Street in Aurora at 11:00 A.M. followed
immediately by a reception. A viewing will be held at 10:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to The Paul Beck American Legion Post 23, 1622 S. Salida Way, Aurora, CO 80017 or to Denver Hospice, 8299 E. Lowry Blvd., Denver, CO 80230 if desired.
