Myrtle M. Mickelson passed quietly to rest on October 20, 2009, in Morrison, Colorado, at the age of 97. She was born in Todd County, Minnesota, on July 17, 1912, the fourth of sixteen children born to Wesley and Mathilda Martin. Myrtle was married to Clarence Mickelson on July 23, 1936. They were married 52 years before his death in 1988. Myrt enjoyed being a homemaker, mother, grandmother, seamstress, child caregiver, gardner, and many other roles. She was a faithful member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church where she loved to teach classes and tell children's stories.
Myrtle was loved by many friends wherever she lived. She lived a long, full life as a devoted Christian. Her family was the most important thing in life to her.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Aspen Park Seventh-day Adventist Church in Conifer, Colorado, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in College Place, Washington, at a later date.
Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Nesmith and husband DeForest, a grandson, Robert Knapp and wife Heather, a great-grandson, Silas Knapp, and the following brothers and sisters: Verna Burr, Orville Martin and wife Lillian, Tam Christiansen, Enid Beck, Genard Martin and wife Marcella, Ralph Martin, Joy McWhorter and husband Hugh, Carole Mullen, and Gwen Norby and innumerable nieces and nephews.
