"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." – Matthew 11:28
Our loving sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, Nancy Jean Irwin, passed away surrounded by her family on March 19, 2023, at the Denver Hospice Center after her battle with cancer. She was born on November 28, 1949 and lived in and around Denver all of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert E. and Doris Jean Williamson Ruff, and youngest brother, Larry George Ruff.
She was the oldest of five children. She is survived by her daughter Crystal D. Waltman Ellis (Richard Ellis Jr.), by her son, Robert W. Spicer, by her granddaughter, Rachel C. Ellis, by her sister, Kathy Ruff Buckmeier (Stan), by her brother, Robert A. Ruff (Pamela Lumpkin), by her brother Gary E. Ruff (Elizabeth Graber), by her nephews Jeremy Ruff, Joshua Ruff and Jarod Ruff, her many cousins, and numerous life-long friends.
Nancy graduated from Adams City High School in 1967 and was self-employed, carrying on the Ruff family's A&D Produce business. She loved the Lord, her family, her pets, and the Rocky Mountains. She would go on spontaneous road-trips where she could traverse roads less travelled (and requiring 4-wheel drive), while imagining the life of the pioneers and learning about the history of the Centennial state. She was an avid bowler, loved her black-and-white movies, British comedy shows, drive-in movies, action flicks, making crafts, playing games, building jigsaw puzzles, camping, and fishing.
Nancy was a caregiver, and she lived her faith. If there was ever anyone in need, she would never hesitate to help however she could and with whatever she had to give.
"His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." – Matthew 25:23
