Nancy was born July 22, 1942 in Martins Ferry, Ohio and raised in an orphanage. After the orphanage, she was in a convent, in West Virginia, studying to become a catholic nun. Deciding that was not the life for her, she left the convent for a more secular life. She worked at various jobs in laundries, grocery stores, and restaurants. When she spoke of her time in the orphanage, she was never angry about her situation; in addition, she shared happier moments. It was in the spring of 1966 that she meets Ron. Ron was traveling the country for Proctor and Gamble setting up sample distributions. Two weeks after meeting in a bar, they were engaged. Ron brought Nancy home to Amarillo, Texas where Ron's family was living at the time. Ron and Nancy were married in September 1966 and settled in for a happy married life.
In 1973, they moved to Denver, Colorado following the death of Ron's father to be closer to his mother. During this time Nancy's love of animals grew and she had 4 rescue dogs, and was always taking care of the stray what ever; cats, dogs, birds, squirrels, raccoons, skunks. She always had their food and water out, keeping an eye out for permanent homes for them. Nancy was a long time employee of Samsonite Corporation and the General Tea Company.
Nancy was always playing second mom to the nieces, nephews, or cousins. They were all recipients of gifts, such as toys, clothes, or books; even us big kids were on the receiving end of her generosity. Nancy made scrap books for the kids to make sure their life events and activities were well documented. When Nancy's niece Michelle had a daughter, Brooke, Nancy became a full time grandma, and it gave her great joy to be a part of Brooks life. Nancy loved being part of a large family. Especially the family pot luck dinners.
Nancy could not resist the neighbor kids either. She always kept a stock of lollipops on hand. When the kids knocked on the door, they were greeted with a smile and a lollipop. Some of the children even called Nancy grandma. Some of the kids, after they grew up and moved away came back to see Nancy. The neighbor hood kids, some coming from blocks away, called her the lollipop lady.
Nancy also enjoyed crafting, watching the Broncos, and gaming on her tablet.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Ronald Stoeber; sister, Karen Roberts; and brother, Tom Roberts. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Virginia Roberts and sisters, Margaret Loubaugh and Pat Roberts.
