Nancy Ann Williams

May 3, 1962 — February 1, 2022

Nancy Ann (Bach) Williams

Nancy Ann Williams, much loved wife, mother, sister, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, and friend, died unexpectedly during spinal surgery on February 1, 2022.

Nancy was born on May 3, 1962, when "Good Luck Charm" by Elvis Presley was Billboard's number one hit song, and as the youngest of 4, she remained her family's beloved good luck charm. From her parents June and Rollie, Nancy learned to love the arts, music, books, Christmas, and all things theatrical. Nancy was demonstrative and enthusiastic in her affections. She loved to tell people she loved them and to show them. She loved giving hugs and sending little notes or calling people she loved just to let them know she was thinking of them. Nancy was the glue that held her far-flung circle of family and friends together, and everyone included in her circle knew just how lucky they were.

In the week "You are Not Alone" by Michael Jackson topped the charts, Nancy married her own Michael, and together they created their own house of love and taught their children, Brian, Erica and Jessica, how to share that love with each other and with the world. Tragically, Erica did not outlive her childhood, and while Nancy's heart never fully recovered from this loss, she continued to embrace life. Michael and Nancy celebrated their 26th anniversary in 2021, as deeply in love as ever, and continued to share that love with Brian and Jessica, who both now work to build their own homes.

When "Not Afraid" by Eminem was at the top of Billboard's Hot 100, Nancy underwent her first major spinal surgery which fused three vertebrae in her neck to relieve the effects of the chronic deterioration that had begun to work its way down her back. That surgery was a success, but the deterioration continued, and her remaining time was haunted by chronic pain and myriad treatments to alleviate that pain. Finally, it became clear that another major surgery was required, and Nancy and her family braced themselves for the long process of rehabilitation and grueling therapy to recover from such a complex procedure. The surgery itself did not scare us, but it was that which her heart, filled with love as it was, was not strong enough to endure.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents June and Roland Bach, father-in-law Bill Williams, and daughter Erica. She is survived by husband Michael and son Brian Bach of Aurora, CO; daughter Jessica (Evan) Cunningham of Colorado Springs, CO; siblings Sue Bach of Billings, MT, Debra (Patrick) Perrella of Roundup, MT, and Jeffrey Bach of San Francisco, CA; mother-in-law Pat Williams of Ogden, Utah; and sister-in-law Laurie (Mark Arreola) Williams and nephew Ryan of Kennewick, WA. A memorial service will be held in Aurora, CO. The family requests that donations, if desired, be made to animal adoption center Dumb Friends League in Denver, CO.
