Nila came to the United States in 2001 on a Visa which allowed her to stay 3 to 6 months. She was supposed to go back to the Philippines during the time Osama Bin Laden was hijacking airlines, so she did not go back.
She lived in California working as a caregiver for two years, then she came to Colorado. I met Nila in 2003; my next door neighbor introduced us and in 2004 we got married.
In the Philippines she had sacrificed to become a teacher, which was her passion, to get her degrees to teach. When she came to Colorado she again was a caregiver until she had me take her to the school board to get her license to teach here in Colorado.
Nila worked at Denver Public Schools and Aurora Public Schools. She was a ParaProfessional and Substitute Teacher. Nila loved teaching kids.
Nila also worked at a couple of stores like King Soopers and Walmart. She was one of the first employees at Walmart on Tower Road when it opened up through a friend of ours who is a manager at Walmart.
