Norma Jean Link died March 17th due to complications from pneumonia and Parkinson's, she was 87. She was surrounded by many beloved family members.
She was born on November 22, 1935, the oldest of 12 children. She grew up with a love of learning and music. She was largely self-taught to play after her family acquired a piano. She would often spend her allowance on new sheet music.
She had a love for mathematics and received a certificate of electronics where she was the only female in her class. She went on to wire 2 entire houses and was able to fix almost anything. She worked in an accountant's office and was a medical transcriptionist.
She met and married Donald Ralph Hillam during her college years and they had 4 sons, Dave (Rozanne), Kenny (Sheila), Gary (Mary Jane) and Mark (Michele). After Don's passing, she decided to become a nurse to help support herself and entered UNC at age 49. She graduated and she was able to help many others in their most difficult battles with cancer.
She then met and fell in love with Peter Link and took on her "second" family. She added 4 more grown children and several grandchildren to the mix. They appreciated her love and support of their now blended family.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served others in many different callings throughout her life. You would often find her accompanying the choir and congregation Sunday mornings.
There will be a memorial Service to celebrate her life on Saturday, March 25th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 6465 W Jewell Ave. in Lakewood, CO. The viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the memorial service to begin at 10:00 a.m..
