Olga Julia Vann

May 11, 1932 — April 16, 2018

Olga Julia Fongaro Vann, longtime resident of the Denver area, died Monday the 16th of April at 9:15 p.m. at her home, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in 1932 in Vicenza, Italy, Olga received a Bachelor's degree in art and taught for five years before marrying Bud Vann, an American airman working with the Italian Air Force. After marriage, they lived in Italy for four more years before moving to the United States, where Olga gained her American citizenship. She had two daughters four years apart. She and her family lived a nomadic military life traveling and living overseas. Olga and Bud were married for 59 years.

Olga taught Italian for many years; was an interpreter in court for the Italian government, and was president of the Circolo Italiano. She had a full life doing the things she loved-cooking, gardening, and painting. She did extensive volunteer work with the Red Cross, unwed mothers, and an orphanage in Italy. She was loyal to a fault, always honest, brave, strong, stubborn, and fiercely loving.

Olga was a mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Bud, her two daughters, Paula and Claudia, and her six grandchildren, Sean, Stefania, Angelica, Olivia, Silvana, and Daniel. She will be greatly missed.
