Omar A. Shabazz, born in Denver, Colorado on October 9, 1974, the youngest child of Wali Shabazz and Dorothy Williams (who both preceded him in death). A true Denver native, Omar attended McGlone elementary school, Martin Luther King Jr. middle school, and graduated from Montbello high school in 1992 with a football scholarship to Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Omar's heartbeat for the Broncos, and he was a true football enthusiast. He reveled in the camaraderie of game days, uniting with family and friends to cheer on his beloved team. Beyond sports, Omar found another passion in music. During weekends, he and his friends transformed into DJs, creating an atmosphere of joy where everyone could revel in the rhythms of life.
Enjoyed food and cooking and found a career in the food service industry with plans to open a restaurant in the heart of downtown Denver. He was known for his "POP" chicken and devil eggs, and always making sure to have a little something sweet for dessert.
Omar passed on December 1, 2023, leaving an indelible mark on countless hearts. He brought not only happiness and laughter but also a sense of purpose and determination to those fortunate enough to be a part of his life. As we mourn the departure of Omar, let us remember the lessons of love and dedication he bestowed upon us. May his legacy inspire us to cherish our family bonds, fight for what we believe in, and find joy in the simple pleasures of life, just as he did.
Omar is survived by a host of siblings, Barbara Williams, Willie Williams Jr., Patricia Bailey, Shell Williams, Linda Dean, Jamil Shabazz, and Andrew Shabazz along with numerous family and friends. He was preceded by his siblings, Sandra Williams, Ronnie Williams, Tim Williams, and Melissa Hines.
