Patricia Ann Benson, "Patty", age 88, of Aurora, Colorado passed away December 26, 2023. Patty was born to her late parents Agnes and Andrew Valentine, on July 20, 1935, in Denver, Colorado. She often reminded us that her birthday fell on the same day the first man walked on the moon in 1969. Patty graduated from West High School in 1953. At the age of 18, Patricia married Gerald Allan Benson, "Jerry", on December 19, 1953, and they lived together in the Denver area for most of their lives. They spent ten years in a home they built in Paonia, Colorado, later returning to Lakewood, and most recently, Aurora, Colorado.
Patty was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by all. She cherished her family and longtime friendships dating back to her childhood. All that were blessed to know her remember her as a kind, loving, generous and thoughtful lady who always put the wellbeing and happiness of others first. She was delighted by the many gatherings and celebrations with family and friends that often-included sharing lovingly prepared and delicious home cooked meals. Patty also had a passion for dancing with her husband Jerry in the big band era of the 1950s and retained her dancing talent well into her senior years.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jerry. She is also survived by her three sons and their spouses: Steve and wife Cindy of Tacoma, Washington; Mark and wife Jo of Burien, Washington; and Dave and wife Tammie of Paonia, Colorado. She is also survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anges and Andrew Valentine, her sister Betty Valentine, and stepbrother Ray Vanous.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in her memory to a charity of one's choice.
