Patricia Jane Naylor

August 17, 1932 — April 8, 2024

The passing of Patricia Jane (DeMoranville) Naylor, 91, of Lakewood, Colorado, at midday on April 8, 2024, fittingly coincided with a total solar eclipse – the skies dimmed as she left this world.

Patricia was born on August 17, 1932, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Aaron and Cathrine (McCaffrey) DeMoranville. She grew up in Rhode Island, the second child of four siblings. Pat was preceded in death by her older sister Rosalys and is survived by her two younger brothers Aaron ("Buddy") DeMoranville and Earl DeMoranville, respectively, of Chatham, MA, and North Kingstown, RI.

In June 1950, Pat graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Providence, after completing the "Scientific Course of Study" prescribed by that school. She advanced to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from the Rhode Island College of Pharmacy and Allied Sciences in June 1955. While there, she met and married the late Robert E. Naylor of Scarsdale, NY, who was a biology student and baseball player at nearby Brown University, after his honorable discharge from the US Marines.

Bob and Pat married in September 1954, settling after their college graduations in Westchester County, New York, where Pat gave birth to their five children between August 1955 and May 1963. They shared a life together for nearly 25 years, creating a secure home for their children to flourish.

Among Pat's myriad interests, she was an active scholar of US Colonial times and took her kids on educational trips up and down the Eastern Seaboard, from Portsmouth, NH, to Williamsburg, VA, and beyond. In July 1972, the family moved to Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, where they lived for 6+ years. Throughout her children's school years, Pat was heavily involved in their activities, serving on PTA committees, chaperoning field trips, and sewing elaborate costumes for many school plays. As well, she arranged and corralled countless enrichment opportunities for her kids, from art classes, to athletics, music lessons, and summer camps. She also read voraciously to her kids to instill in them her lifelong loves of reading and learning. As her kids grew up, Pat enjoyed travels that parallelled her intellectual interests (e.g., Europe).

After raising her children, Pat relocated to Clarendon Hills, IL and commuted to Chicago where she worked full-time in reception at the global law firm of Baker McKenzie. There, she was actively involved in the early upbringing of her then-lone grandson, born in Dec. 1983. Ten years later, in Nov. 1993, Pat returned to Colorado, residing in Jefferson County, where she thrived for the remainder of her long and rewarding life, enjoying close relationships with many friends, as well with five more grandchildren, born 1993 - 2002.

Pat was preceded in death by her only son, Robert Naylor, Jr. and eldest daughter, Susan Naylor. She is survived by three married daughters, who are parents, variously, to her six grown grandkids:
• Vivian Naylor & spouse John Archer of N. Aurora, IL, & son D. Kyle Naylor (40) of Chicago, IL;
• Sharon Naylor & spouse John Jackson of Golden, CO, & sons R. Blake Jackson (30) of CO Springs, & Troy R. Jackson (25), of Lakewood, CO; and,
• Kelly Naylor & spouse Paul Komyatte of Golden, CO, & twin daughters Molly Catherine (27) of Wash. DC, & Bridget Elaine (27) of Chicago, IL, & son William ("Liam") F. Naylor-Komyatte (21), a college student in St. Petersburg, FL.

Pat had boundless love and pride for the character, kindness, and accomplishments of all of her children and her grandchildren. Likewise, they all adored their dearest "Gagi" and will cherish forever abundant fond memories and her famously hilarious "Gagi-isms."

Patricia Naylor's was a life well lived and loved.

Arrangements are pending for a celebration of Pat's life to be held in early August 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations donations to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.
