Patricia Ann Rivers passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, due to complications associated with a stroke and heart complications, she passed away in her Denver home surrounded by family and friends. This was her wish to be in the comfort of her own home with family at her side. She was born on April 20, 1946 in Denver Colorado, and was preceded by her mother Eula Mae Joiner.
In Patricia’s early years she was a backup singer to various singing groups traveling throughout Denver. Along with her childhood friend Fran, they sang in a group called the “Blue Notes” in the early 60’s for then icons such as Chuck Thomas and the Hitch Hikers and appeared on Channel 2 TV Station of Denver in 1965.
She graduated from East High School, Denver, Colorado (go Angels!) in 1964, and married Willie C. Rivers in September, 1966 in Denver, Colorado.
Patricia loved helping others and dedicated over 50 years of her life to nursing and caring for others. She started her career nursing at Saint Luke's Hospital of Denver in 1967, and nearly 30 years later had an opportunity to work at Presbyterian Saint Luke’s Hospital with her son Bernard.
Pat worked various nursing positions over the years, but most enjoyed working in Labor and Delivery and having a hand in taking care of hundreds of newborns as they started their little lives. In the early 2000’s she worked in private practice supporting 2 local doctors’ offices and later supporting the dearly departed at Newcomer Funeral Services of Aurora, CO. She had a special passion for taking care of others, enjoyed being a mother and raising her four beautiful children.
She often attended Mile High Church in Lakewood, CO. It is a non-denominational all-inclusive church. Throughout her life, Patricia’s smile, kind heart and generosity shined as she gave freely of her time and energy to others.
She is survived by her four children Adrean, Michael, Bernard and Kenn. Adrean and Bernard live locally in Denver and Lakewood, while Michael resides in Powder Springs GA., and Kenn lives in Spanaway, WA. Patricia is loved by her 9 grandchildren Javaughn, Kyle, Darrian, Brianna, Sergio, Rosa, Trisha, Malachi and Alex.
The family would like to give appreciation to the staff at Presbyterian Saint Luke's Spalding Rehabilitation Center and Intermountain Health Hospice Services for their loving support and care of Patricia over the course of the last 3 months of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be sent in care of Patricia to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or to helping others through her favorite charity the Denver Rescue Mission.
