Kenny Rogers- "Every gambler knows, that the secret to survivin' is knowin' what to throw away and knowin' what to keep 'cause every hand's a winner and every hand's a loser and the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep," and when he'd finished speakin' he turned back toward the window, crushed out his cigarette, faded off to sleep…………………
On the early morning of April 14, 2022, our brother, uncle and friend Patrick Trujillo unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep and journeyed home to be in the company of our Lord. Pat was born in Tooele, Utah on September 8, 1962, to Celedonio Jr. and Olga (Martinez) Trujillo. Pat spent his childhood in Tooele, Utah and later moved with his family to Costilla, NM.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents, and his nephew and godson, Richie Tafoya. He is survived by his siblings, Charles (Yolanda) Trujillo, Bernadean Trujillo, Tim Trujillo, Katherine (Hal) Trujillo-Bishop and Benjamin Trujillo. His companion, Betty Chacon, and her children. He is also survived by his nephew and godson, Edward Trujillo, nephews Jeramy (Jen) Tafoya, Zachary Tafoya, niece Kiera Bishop, nephew and niece Andres and Josephina Trujillo, and great-nephew Nakai Tafoya.
Pat was known for his funny, jokester, clever and onery personality. To know Pat was to know who he was, and to know him was to love him. He was always there to help those who he thought of in need, and always was there to listen to and laugh with. Although his time here on earth was shorter than anticipated, he did the things the way he wanted, when and how he wanted to do them.
Pat served in the United States Air Force time during Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom, and retired as a Master Sergeant from the military in 2005. His services will forever be appreciated. He had recently retired from the Denver Mint in December of 2021. Pat was an avid coin collector. He enjoyed spending precious time with family, gambling, puzzles, working with his hands, reading, the outdoors, riding his motorcycle, and most recently, fixing up his new house in Pueblo, CO after his retirement.
Pat will forever be missed by those he left behind, and the memories each and every one of us shared with him will always remain with us. The laughs that were shared, the hugs that were felt, and the conversations that were held will forever have a special place in all of our hearts. We know he is looking down on us along with those who have passed before him. Till we meet again, "There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done!"
