Paul Michael "Mike" Ivey, 71, of Aurora, Colorado, received his promotion on to Glory on October 11, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born on February 5, 1950 in Omaha, NE to Paul and Geraldine Ivey.
Growing up, his favorite things to do were to go to the park with his friends to play football, basketball, and jump the creek on his bike. Mike attended Abraham Lincoln High school in Denver where he played a variety of sports, including basketball where he could skillfully dunk a ball and had an impressive vertical jump of 36 inches.
Mike was a very hard worker, starting his job life at the age of 13 selling donuts door to door. As an adult, he took over his father's business - Paul's Waterproofing – where he was well respected in the construction world. He said that carrying 300 lbs of rock and doing drain tile were the most difficult and riskiest things he has ever done. With that said, when asked if he could go back in time and choose any career, his response was "waterproofing". He truly enjoyed what he did, especially when his jobs were located in the Rocky Mountains.
Mike married the love of his life Connie Kay on March 16, 1980. During their marriage they worked side by side, as they built their business. They poured their heart and soul into creating a beautiful life blended with their six daughters and their families.
Mike was a man of faith, integrity, honesty, kindness and humor. What he loved most was spending time with his family and friends. Whether they were playing pool, enjoying good food and drink, or taking trips to his favorite Mexico destination, his fun-loving spirit was contagious.
Mike is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Connie, his children Andrea (Joe) Luethmers, Cristina Rames, Julie (Christopher) Bernal, Bridget (Klaas) van Gelder, Sally (Brian) Thompson, and Nicole (David) Lloyd-Sullivan, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. His brother, Ron (Kidd) Ivey. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Debbie and Paula.
When Connie was asked about good stories to share about Mike, she simply said, "His life is a good story" - a beautiful statement of his legacy. Mike's Celebration of Life will be at Spirit of Hope Church in Parker, CO on November 4th at 11:30am. The celebration will continue with a reception at Heritage Eagle Bend Golf Club at 1:00pm.
