Paul L. Schumann, 81, of Aurora, passed away on Thursday, August 11th, 2022. He was born to Lawrence and Elizabeth Schumann on March 12th, 1941 in Auburn, Indiana, home of the Auburn Automobile Company. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1959. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF). In 1960, while stationed at Woodbridge Air Force Base in Suffolk, England he met Susan Brooks, they married in 1962.
The former Lowry Air Force Base in Denver was his last duty station before retiring from the USAF in 1979 with the rank of Master Sergeant. He planned it that way, of all the places he had visited he always said Colorado was the nicest. Upon retirement from the military he worked for International Paper until he retired in 2004.
He is survived by his wife Susan and their three children: sons Mark and Stephen, and daughter Carolyn (Sheets). He is also survived by four grandchildren: Danika, Ainsley, Ethan, and Victoria along with three great-grandchildren: Ira, Lila, and Maebel.
On Monday, August 29th at 10:00 a.m., services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 190 Potomac Street, in Aurora; viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. Immediately following the service there will be a luncheon reception. Committal, with military honors, is at 2:15 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery Shelter C.
