Pauline Zink

April 1, 1932 — July 6, 2022

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Aunt and dear friend, Pauline Moore Zink, aged 90, of Lakewood, CO passed away, Wednesday July 6, 2022. Both family and friends will dearly miss her.

Twin girls, Claudine and Pauline were born on April 1, 1932, in Franklin, Kentucky. Pauline was born first & Claudine was a close second! The twins always called their parents Momma & Daddy: Gladys Marie Brown and James Roy Moore

Mother Nature played a great trick on Grandma Moore - she had no idea she was having twins and neither did the doctor – Family folklore has it that the doctor was drunk and after delivering Pauline, he was as surprised as anyone shouting, "There's another one!" Dr. Vickers must have been a good doctor at one time – Pauline's older brother Jimmy was also delivered by the doctor and was named after him: James Vickers Moore.

Older brother Jimmy, who was almost 3 when the twins were born had already run around the neighborhood shouting it's a girl when he found out that his mom had twins. So, Jimmy had to run around again telling everyone the same thing, "There's another one! Two girls!"

Claudine was named after her dad's brother Claude. Pauline would have been named Earline after another of her dad's brothers, Earl, but Grandma Moore wouldn't allow that, and it was decided to name her Pauline – after Grandmas' girlfriend – at least their names still rhymed! Family members fondly refer to Pauline as Earline. We don't know why Grandma nixed the name Earline – we wonder if she didn't like her brother-in-law, Earl.

Pauline moved with her family from Franklin, Kentucky to Pueblo, Colorado in 1936. Grandpa's sister Ima Mae Branaum had moved previously to Pueblo. Pauline went to Central High School in Pueblo and would have graduated in 1950 but she got married at age 17 and didn't finish high school. Pauline married Herbert Milton Zink, Jr on November 11th, 1949, in Raton, New Mexico.
Of course, Claudine was matron of honor.

They lived in Pueblo, Colorado, several places in California, back to Pueblo, Albuquerque, NM in 1966 and they then moved to several places in the Denver area. Pauline worked as a payroll clerk for several area car dealerships.

Survivors include one daughter, Leslie Ann, who was born in Pueblo, CO on November 23rd ,1951; 4 grandchildren, Gina (1968), Kelly (1970), Christopher (1987) & Jonathan (1989); 5 great-grandchildren, Gina's son: Dylan (1993)Kelly & Dixies Children: Kelly, Jr (1989), John (1991), Taylor (1996) & Kayla (2000).

Above all, Pauline loved her twin sister, Claudine. They had a unique bond that only exists between identical twins. Pauline will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her time spent with family. She was truly loved by all – she was a kind and generous friend to everyone.

She is preceded in death by her parents Roy & Gladys Moore, her twin sister Claudine Spear Buffalow, her brother Jimmy Moore and her husband Herb Zink who passed away on October 21, 1992, nearly 30 years ago. Pauline and Herb were married for almost 43 years.
We will miss Pauline very much and look forward to the time when we can be together again. We are grateful for the glorious reunion taking place on the other side. We express our thanks to all who have reached out and consoled us at this time of mourning.

There will be a small gathering of remembrance and celebration at 10:00 am on July 16th at the mortuary. There will be a private burial for family in Pueblo, CO where Pauline will be laid to rest next to her husband Herb and her twin sister Claudine.
