Peter Dmytryk

November 28, 1936 — February 8, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Peter (Pete) Dmytryk, 88, who passed away on February 8, 2025 in Aurora, Colorado. He was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones and friends.

Peter was born on November 28, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the parents of John and Rosalia Dmytryk. Peter graduated from Mastbaum High School in 1954. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served our country honorably from 1954-1974. He achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant and became a Master Instructor in 1971. After retiring from the military, Pete continued his career in civil service as a Training Specialist at Lowry Air Force Base. Pete retired on June 30, 1994 concluding his service to the United States Government for over thirty-eight years.

While stationed in Japan, he met his beloved wife, Kaeko (Kay) Dmytryk. They were married on May 16, 1958 in Tokyo, Japan. For over fifty-two years, they lived a life full of love and adventure. Together they raised their daughter, Donna, creating a loving and supportive family who will forever cherish the memories they made. Pete took pride in being a loving father and husband. Pete loyally cared for Kay until her final days. After the passing of his wife, Pete found great happiness with the second love of his life, Earline Westbrook. Together for fifteen years, they shared many memories of laughter, love, and faithful devotion to one another.

Pete was a proud veteran and dedicated his time to VFW Post 3631 serving as both the Commander and Quartermaster. You could find him at the grill on Friday nights grilling a mean steak or moonlighting as a karaoke DJ at the VFW. For over forty years, he volunteered his time to the annual Thanksgiving Dinner for Aurora Senior Citizens. Pete had many fond memories of spending time with his dearest friends at The Eagles, VFW, and American Legion. He enjoyed his weekly Coffee Klatch get-togethers with The Boys. Pete was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, golfing, fishing, and water skiing. He spent many weekends camping with Caravan 12 - "The Dirty Dozen." Pete spent summers at Jackson Lake and shared many stories of his and his friends' hilarious shenanigans. His hobbies and interests also included bowling, welding, leatherworking, carpentry, photography, and watching Western movies. His selflessness and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.

Pete will be dearly missed by family and friends. His family was his pride and joy and his greatest role in life was being a husband, father, and grandfather. He showed unconditional love to his family and made sure to always say, "I love you." He was always a person you could count on and didn't hesitate to help anyone in need. Pete is survived by his loving daughter, Donna (Michael) O'Hara; significant other, Earline Westbrook and her daughter Cindy (Kurt) Bevacqua; and grandchildren, Caitlin (James), Nicole, Eric (Mekena), Zachary, Austin, Cooper, Garrett, and Brody; great-grandchildren, Cecelia Rose and Peter James; sister-in-law, Helen Dmytryk, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosalia Dmytryk; brothers, Theodore (Ted) Dmytryk and Raymond (Ray) Dmytryk; great-grandson Ryan Lee Deeming.
