On June 5, 1931 a red-haired, blue-eyed Philip Dale Kalaher was born to Vera M. Livingston and Ralph T. Kalaher in Denver, Colorado. He was welcomed to the company of his older siblings Mona (deceased), Darold (a.k.a. Bud; deceased), Sally and younger brother Jack (deceased). During his childhood and teenage years, Phil attended Elmwood Elementary, Baker Junior High and West High School. He later went on to work for Gates Rubber Company, where he endured a machinery accident that caused the severance of several fingers from his right hand. Phil then continued his hard work with Martin Marietta for 35 years before retiring.
Phil is survived by one biological daughter, Sheryl Blanton and one step-daughter, Sherry and Louie Cordova. He also cared for his stepchildren Linda and Howard who are both deceased. As a result of Linda's death, Phil adopted her daughter, Carrie Kalaher.
Phil is survived by his current wife, Olivia Kalaher. On June 25, 1994 friends and family gathered to witness Phil and Olivia exchanged marital vows in the comfort of their own backyard. Throughout the 12 years of marriage, they enjoyed many spontaneous camping trips and fishing out on the lake. Additionally, Phil became a stepfather to Olivia's three children Monyett, Sean and LaVar. He also embraced his role as a grandfather to numerous grandchildren.
Phil departed from this world on June 27, 2006 peacefully in his own home. His spirit will be commemorated on Saturday July 8, 2006 1-6 P.M. with the gathering of numerous family members at Newcomer Family Funeral Home West Chapel. It is there that we will all remember with glee the man who was active, lots of fun, a good brother and son, a good father and a great husband.
