Phillip 'Phil' Wossilek passed away on Wednesday September 22, 2021 at the age of 53, in Aurora, Colorado. A lifelong fighter, Phil battled until the end, surrounded and supported by loved ones.
Born to Jean Wossilek and the late Charles 'Chuck' Wossilek on February 29, 1968, Phil began his life in Columbus, Ohio, moving to Detroit, Michigan, then to Elizabeth, Colorado, at age 11. A true country boy, he spent his days exploring, engaging in sports and reading any book he could get his hands on. In 1986, Phil graduated from Elizabeth High School, going on to attend Colorado Christian University, followed by Colorado State University with brother Chris and best friend Brad. Phil's formal education concluded with a Bachelors in Accounting in 1993, but he continued his pursuit for knowledge all his life.
Known to peers as caring and high-spirited, Phil was a co-worker quick with a joke; someone who made work fun. Previous to a 23 year career at Lucent Technologies, he worked with Intelligent Electronics where, by fate, he met the love of his life, Kristin. The couple were married soon after, wedding in 1995, and went on to have three children.
An active and involved man, Phil coached his children's sports teams, frequented the gym and its various programs, read insatiably, tended dutifully to yard and housework, consistently organized and hosted gaming nights with close friends, found time for weekend activities with his wife and children and would sneak in the occasional afternoon of relaxation on the patio.
Phil is survived by wife Kristin and their three children: Morgan, Mitchell, and Kaleigh Wossilek, his mother Jean, sister Tonya and Jim Bernardoni, brother Christopher 'Chris' and Kristin Wossilek, his in-laws Richard and Judy Morgan, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Charles 'Chuck' F. Wossilek, grandparents Charles and Mary Wossilek, and grandparents Ralph and Dorothy Newell.
A memorial will be held at Southeast Christian Church, 9650 Jordan Rd, Parker, CO 80134 at 10am Thursday, with a reception following the service. There will be a Facebook Live option for those who cannot attend in person.
Phil Wossilek did not take a single day for granted. His loved ones carry on his legacy by living life to the fullest.
