Phyllis Kay Keeney-Maynard was born October 19, 1938 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico to Leo Otha Keeney and Mary Gwendolyn Bull. Phyllis passed from this life, after a brief illness, on January 31, 2018 at Aurora Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father Leo Keeney, mother Gwendolyn Bull, daughter Shelly Vasquez, brother-in-law Bob Tozzie and twin babies.
She resided in Glenwood Springs and moved to Aurora, Colorado where she spent the last 22 years living with her sister, Sharon Tozzie. She enjoyed and had a passion for bowling, which she participated in city, state and national competitions receiving many awards. She also enjoyed softball and watching all sports. She loved the outdoors, fishing, camping and horseback riding on the western slope. She was an avid cook and her family enjoyed her culinary creations. She enjoyed doing crafts and sharing her works with her family. She also attended cosmetology school and received her certificate. Phyllis was a proud retiree from Raytheon at Buckley AFB.
Phyllis is survived by her children Debbie (Joe) Kathman of Aurora, CO., Richard Scott Troska (Connie Mays) of San Tan Valley, AZ., Rodney Jay Chadwick of Grant, NE. and Daniel (Cindi) Maynard of Rifle, CO. She's survived by grandchildren Aaron Schuller, Camryn Kathman, Eric Blomquist, Catherine Gibson, Jarrod Troska, Gianni Lowe, Brandon Troska, Brian Troska, Lilly Emma Chadwick, Ashley Hestand, John Paul Vasquez, Heather Maynard, Caleb Maynard, Jacob Maynard, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis is also survived by her sisters Sharon Tozzie, Sandra (Charlie) Thompson and Pamela Harper.
Phyllis was very loving and a beloved family member. She is remembered as a strong and passionate person and leaves a huge void among her family and friends and will be very, very missed.
