Queenola Miller

June 20, 1935 — May 28, 2019

Queenola "Queen" Miller, 83, of Denver, passed away on May 28, 2019.

She was born June 20, 1935 in Plantersville, Mississippi, the daughter of Milton and Lela (Pruitt) Shumpert. On December 22, 1960, Queen married James Andrew Miller in Denver, Colorado.

Queen had a personality as bright as the sun. She adored her children, family and friends, and was a consistent presence in all of their lives. She was very caring, loving, and genuine, as well as, hardworking; she'd give you her last without question. She carried her spirts high at all times and encouraged others to do the same. She shared words of wisdom and lead by example, grounded in courage and strength. Queen is the true definition of a God-Fearing virtuous woman. The work of her heart and hands shall be praised in the gates of heaven.

She loved to smile and laugh; and was always sure to sneak in a good joke. She enjoyed dancing, getting dressed up for events, cooking for and spending time with her family, traveling, and gardening. She also liked to watch sports, there was never a dull moment with her if a Denver Broncos game was on! No matter the interest, Queen had a special way of bonding with anyone she came in contact with.

Queen is survived by her two daughters, Donna Marie Shumpert-Miller and Sandra E. (Timothy) Fortune; two sons, James Anthony Miller and Rodney I. Miller; eight grandchildren, Isaac Jewell, Jr., Cassandra JoAnna Lawler, Mary Nicole Jewell, Noeleeta Lynn Lawler, Kiala Korone Miller, Robertta Joi Lawler, De'Lawna Marie Miller, and Siey'Reaq Miller; nine great-grandchildren, Destani Washington, Quan'Tay Miller, Namiah Hope, Kamea Washington, Shaunti Roberts, La'Riyau Miller, Naomi Lawler, Joia Lawler-Wade, and Ryder Lawler-Wade; sister, Forestine Ware; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lela and Milton Shumpert; husband, James Andrew Miller; step-son, Larry Miller, step-daughter, Debra Jewell; and sister Ruby Jean Robinson
