Ralph Luebs of Lakewood, Colorado passed away at age 96 on January 12, 2019. Ralph was a farm boy from Wood River, Nebraska who went from a one-room schoolhouse to earn bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Nebraska and a Ph.D. in agronomy from Iowa State College (now Iowa State University). He served as a Naval officer during World War II. Ralph worked as a research scientist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and then consulted in the field of agronomy. He was a dedicated servant of his community, providing leadership to several Lutheran congregations, Little League, the Boy Scouts, and Kiwanis. His wife of 48 years, Dorothy (Gartzke), and his wife Joy (Valero), predeceased him. Dorothy, and then Joy, travelled the world with Ralph. They also shared many special times with friends and family which always brought great joy to him. Ralph is survived by his and Dorothy's four children, Roger, Gordon, Alan, and Suzanne (Ogborn), five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church of Lakewood or a public education institution.
