Ramona was born in Ft. Laramie, Wyoming and spent her early school years there. However, she moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska to live with friends of her family where she finished her education. Her Nebraska family owned a drug store with a pharmacy, and Ramona worked part time in the store. This was probably where Ramona first showed signs of her strong work ethic.
She met and married her first husband, Allan Reynolds in Wyoming where her oldest son was born. Allan was an architect, working for the National Park Service. They moved to California where the last three boys were born. In about 1972, they relocated to Lakewood, CO. Allan worked with the Park Service until his retirement. The two had four sons – Danny, Mark & Miles [fraternal twins], and Michael [Spike]. She also helped a neighbor going through a hard time by taking in their two sons. Allan passed away in December 2002. Ramona cared for him at home while she continued to work. She worked throughout her marriage to Allan and spent 27 years with Kaiser Permanente where she rose to a supervisory position.
Ramona met Jim Vigil at a "Widows and Widowers" group. Jim's first wife, Deann, passed away in 2003. Ramona and Jim were married here at Shepherd of the Hills on September 10, 2005. They were the recipients of the 2016 "Deacons' Award for Outstanding Service and Contributions to Shepherd" for their work with "Family Promise". They worked at the Performing Arts Center – the Buell Theater and Boettcher Concert Hall – ushering patrons at performances for eight years. Their love story is truly beautiful and an inspiration. Just when both of them thought that grief would fill the rest of their lives, they found each other and fell "madly in love". Each knew that the other was the one for them.
Ramona is survived by her mother, Nellie Ballinger, her sons, Danny, Mark, Miles, and Michael Reynolds, and husband, Jim Vigil. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Allan Reynolds and her sister, Donna.
