Richard "Dick" Baker passed away on Dec 26, 2021, after a month long stay at St. Anthony's Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado. He was surrounded by family.
Dick was born in Ely, Minnesota to Walter and Esther Baker. He is preceded in death by both his parents and his brother, Donald Baker. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn; 7 children, Chris Baker, Alan Baker, Denise Baker (husband Darin Thorn), Brad Baker (wife Nico), Mike Baker (wife Kathy) Scott Baker (wife Anita), and Shelly Monson (husband John); 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sisters Janice, Gail, and MaryBeth (husband Gary); and brother David (wife Barbara).
Dick was raised in Duluth, Minnesota and graduated from Central High School. He moved his family to Hermantown, Minnesota in 1970. Dick had the position of General Store Manager at Shoppers' City in West Duluth for 15 years. He relocated to Lakewood, Colorado in 1981 and obtained the position of General Store Manager at Handy Dan, and later at Builders Square until retirement.
Dick was an avid sports fan, loved the Minnesota Vikings football team and the Colorado Avalanche hockey team. He had season tickets to the Avalanche for several years. He also coached his sons, Alan and Brad, in hockey.
Dick was a great father and an exceptional grandfather. He loved his grandchildren immensely and spent much of his time attending Caitlyn's (mom Chris) and Adam's (dad Brad) various sporting, band, and school activities.
Dick also was a strong catholic and attended Christ on the Mountain Catholic Church in Lakewood.
