Richard John Buckingham passed away early Thanksgiving morning on November 25, 2021 at his home in Westminster, Colorado at the age of 7y6.
Richard was born in Flint, Michigan, the third child of George E. and Irma C. Bucking ham. As part of a military family, Richard lived in Panama, Texas, California, Washington, Kansas, Louisiana, and Florida until the family settled in Colorado when he was a young teenager. Richard graduated from the University of Colorado - Boulder; later earning a Master of Taxation from the University of Denver. He was a Certified Public Accountant and operated an accounting practice. Richard never retired.
Richard had a passion for many activities thoughout his life. He enjoyed photography, music, dancing and golf. During high school, university and throughout his adult life he played the clarinet in local bands and orchestras. He was an excellent dancer, both ballroom and round dancing. Richard and his wife Donna, performed in square dancing exhibitions all over the United States. In his later years, Richard loved riding his motorcycle to numerous veteran memorial sites in Colorado and nearby states. Richard also served as an offcial for several years at the annual Colorado Open Golf Tournaments and played in the Indian Tree Golf Club men's club. Needless to say, Richard has many friends from his various areas of interest who will greatly miss him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Donna; his two sons, Robert Buckingham of Ohio and Richmond Buckingham of Aurora, Colorado; his brothers George Buckingham of Oregon; Frederick Buckingham of Texas; Randolph Buckingham of Utah; Jeffrey Buckingham of Colorado; and his sisters, Barbara Ferguson of Colorado and Mary Buckingham of Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
