Richard L. Edwards, born March 4, 1953 in Denver, Colorado, passed away June 5, 2009 in Aurora, Colorado at the age of 56.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Kristine, of Bennett, and two children, Stephanie (Karl) Gibbs of St. Louis, Missouri, and Matthew (Melissa) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Richard was a loving grandfather of Michaela and Zachariah and a new grandchild, to be born June 23. He is also survived by one sister, Susan, of Aurora, Colorado, and a half-brother, Nathan (Sharon) Blockler of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. Also surviving Richard is his mother-in-law, Cathie Boyle of Aurora, Colorado, along with brothers-in-law Thomas (Patricia) Boyle of Littleton, Colorado, Brian (Jennifer) Boyle of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Robert (Karen) Boyle of San Diego, California. In addition, Richard was the proud uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter LeRoy and Fern May Edwards of Aurora, Colorado.
Richard was a 1972 graduate of Aurora Central High School and attended the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo, Colorado. Richard and Kristine were married in May of 1976 at Gateway Christian Church, Aurora, Colorado. He moved his family from the metro area to rural Bennett in 1982, where he resided until his death. He was a devoted husband, father and brother, a loving grandfather and dear friend. He worked as a wrecker driver, automotive mechanic, automotive insurance adjuster, and a courier. His pastimes included boating and fishing, model airplanes and cars, gardening, golfing, and painting. He was an avid NASCAR fan and was loved by his loyal dog, Lucy.
Funeral services were held June 11, 2009 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Aurora, Colorado with Rev. Fred Skov and Seminarian Karl Gibbs officiating. Internment was at Fairmount Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
