Richard "Dick" Dean Jorgensen, age 86, passed away peacefully February 2, 2020 in Goodyear, Arizona.
He was born August 8, 1933 in Ida Groves, Iowa to Jess and Russ Jorgensen.
In 1974, he founded American Appliance in the garage of his home, with his son, Scott working with him.
The business quickly took off and within a year the company expanded to include warehouse space and employees.
A few years later his daughter, Sandi, joined the family business.
In retirement, Dick and his wife Phyllis enjoyed traveling around the US and Canada in their motor home.
After a few years of trekking across the country, they became snowbirds; wintering in Yuma, Arizona and
returning to their home in Lakewood, Colorado for the spring and summer months. During their travels Dick
and Phyllis made lasting memories and many new friends.
Dick is survived by his sister Janice Lane, two children Sandi (John) Gechter and Scott (Sandy) Jorgensen,
three grandchildren, John Gechter, Jr., Leslie Pugh and Taylor Jorgensen, as well as two great grandsons,
Grant and Garren Gechter. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis and their daughter Jane Ann.
