RICHARD W. MILLER 1924 - 2010
Richard W Miller . 86, of Westminster, Colorado was born October 4, 1924 to Floyd and Mable Miller in Palisade, Nebraska. He entered his eternal rest on January 17, 2010. He received Christ as his personal Savior when he was 29 years old and cherished God's promises all his life. He was a member of Tri- City Baptist Church, Westminster, Colorado for the past 10 years after moving from the original family home on Maria Street in Westminster and was a member of VFW Post 7028 in Palisade, Nebraska.
Richard, "Dick" to all who knew him,grew up on a farm south of Palisade, Nebraska and assisted his father in farming until he entered into the service of his country on January 12, 1945 serving in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. He married Ardith Bowersox on March 19, 1949. To this union three children were born...LaDonna Lynn, Linda Jean and David Clinton. Dick and his family lived in Palisade, McCook and Trenton, Nebraska before moving to the Denver area in 1957 He worked in construction for a few months and worked for the Safeway Distribution Center for 28 years before retiring in 1986. Retirement brought motor trips, camping in fine style in most of the states and a few places in Canada, and cruises to Hawaii and Alaska. He had a wonderful time summering in the mountains south of Buena Vista for for a number of years. He loved fishing, going to McDonalds for breakfast and best of all, breakfast at the Patio Pancake House in Salida every Saturday after a grueling couple of hours of garage sales. He loved his family, all those grandchildren and giving rides to great-grandaughters on his golf cart.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Ardith of 60 years, two daughters, LaDonna (Frank) True of Aurora, Linda (Jim) Grimshaw of Sarasota, Florida, one son, David (Toni) Miller of Austin, Colorado, a sister, Elizabeth Hayward of Longmont, Colorado, sisters-in-law Bertha Miller, Nelda and her husband Harlan Waugh, two grandsons, Clint Wright (Becky), Adam Moran (Resa) from the Denver area, one grandaughter, Kellie (Kevin) Kriss of Austin, Texas and six great-grandchildren, Dalton Andrew and Lexi Wright of Littleton, Colorado, Carter and Lauren Kriss of Austin, Texas, Sierra and Maya Moran of Centennial, Colorado and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mable Miller, three brothers, Warren, Marion, Paul, and two sisters, Doris Magorian and Evelyn Phillips.
He was a devoted husband and father and grandfather who will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered for his ready wit and wise remarks.
