Richard (Dick) Hale Roberts, 82, passed away on December 22, 2023 in Aurora, Colorado. He was born on February 21, 1941 in Cheyenne, Wyoming , to the late Russell E. Roberts, Sr. and Ruby E. Roberts (Garton). Richard was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn (Katie) K Roberts (Leonard) and his Brother Russell E. Roberts, Jr.
Richard, also known as Dick and in his earlier years as Dickie Bob, was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was fortunate to have a life-long marriage to the love of his life and high school sweet-heart, Katie. He is survived by his brother Edwin Roberts, sister Evelyn Canis, sister-in-law Sandra Roberts and many nieces and nephews; daughters Karen Jean Springer and Diane Lynn Moore, grandchildren Benjamin Springer (Michelle), Joshua Springer (Sonya), Kayla Bobye (Ash), Austin Moore (Lexi) and great-grandchildren Ezekiel, Malachi, Hope, Seth, Solomon, Catalina, Annabelle and Brylee.
In his youth he graduated Ft Morgan High School where he was part of the Morgan High Singers. He then enlisted in the Navy on November 16, 1960 as an aviation electrician's mate third class and was assigned to the USS Hancock (CVA-19). He and Katie moved to Sterling where he was employed with Sinclair Oil Company where he worked as a mechanic on the oil drilling rigs in the area. He later moved his family to the Denver area and transferred to the mail room at Atlantic Richfield Oil Company where he later became an accountant for their active drilling sites. In later years he worked for Apache Oil and then a local plumbing supply company.
He had a deep faith and was an active member at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Aurora, Colorado where he was the treasurer for many years and enjoyed singing with the adult senior choir.
In his free time he loved to get on his bicycle and go for long rides, sometimes traveling several hundred miles at a time. He also enjoyed traveling in his RV to the Colorado Mountains and Southern California with Katie and their beloved dog Princess. He also enjoyed woodworking in his free time at home.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service for Dick at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church located at 17700 E. Iliff Ave., Aurora, Colorado. The service will be held to celebrate Dick's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where Dick found spiritual guidance and support.
