Richard Rohleder, 97, a kindhearted loving soul died Sunday July 24, 2022, at his Denver, Colorado home. He was born March 13, 1925, in St. Peter Kansas, to Pete and Anna (Pfeifer) Rohleder.
After graduating from high school at age 18, Richard went and served our country in 1943 with the United States Army. He was a legendary World War II Paratrooper, assigned to Headquarters Battery, 320th Glider Field Artillery Battalion, and 82nd Airborne Division landing by glider in the vicinity of Groesbeck, Holland. He was awarded The Military Order of William for his action in Market Garden. For the success of their efforts of "Ardenne Winter Offensive" the 82nd Airborne Division were awarded the Fourragere 1940 by the King of Belgium.
Upon returning from the war, he married his true love, Pauline Dreiling, on August 13,1946 in Kansas where they lived and started a family. In 1957 the family relocated to Colorado for work and continued his love of farming in Kansas.
Richard was a lifetime Kansas farmer and retired as a Quality Control Inspector from Sundstrand Aviation in Denver, Colorado. He was a devoted member of Holy Catholic Trinity Church in Westminster, Colorado.
He is survived by his seven children; Donna Smith, Diana Sorensen, Richard Lee Rohleder, Donella Stillings, Cynthia Pohlit, Cheryl Helmut, Duane Rohleder; 10 grandchildren Steve, Shelley, Joshua, Jena, Jillian, Hannah, Benjamin, Danielle, Colton, Peyton; six great grandchildren Keith, Craig, Corey, Abigail, Viktor, Elon, Axle; and his sister Ramilda, Richmeier. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and brother Frank.
