On April 21, 2023, Robert E. Babbitt passed away at the age of 70. Robert was born on April 5, 1953, Easter Sunday in Avon, Illinois, to Bobby Gene Babbitt and Patricia Marie Beckner Babbitt. He is survived by his loving wife, Laurie, and son, Nicholas G. Babbitt, wife Madison and his beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth Rene Babbitt (Libby) and Cecilia Ann Babbitt (CeCe), and son, Tyler A. Babbitt, girlfriend Amanda Strayer and her daughter Ava as well as his brother Richard C. Babbitt and wife Monica and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rob and Laurie were married on May 2, 1982, and spent more than 40 years together, raising their two sons and six beagles. Robert was a survivor and cheated death on several occasions, including a plane crash and a soda pop delivery truck accident with a train. He also bartended part-time and worked as a pilot in Illinois and Colorado. In his later years, he worked as a school bus driver for Cherry Creek School District and worked in the utility department for the City of Aurora, where he always put safety first.
Robert was an amazing, hard-working man who always went above and beyond for his family. He worked two jobs most of his life to ensure that they could afford vacations and the extras in life. He was known for his delicious Sunday morning breakfasts, homemade beef jerky and not wearing a shirt. He always had a soft spot for his beagles, often feeding them table scraps. Robert was wrapped around his granddaughter Libby's finger from the moment she was born, and they always had a blast together. Libby has promised to tell her little sister CeCe all about her "Papa".
Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His strength, resilience, and love for his family will always be remembered.
