Robert Eugene Barnes

Robert Eugene Barnes was born in Bloomington, Nebraska on July 23, 1929. He passed away on July 6, 2021.

He attended school and lived in the Bloomington area until the spring of 1946 when he went to Tieton, Washington with his family.

He was one credit short of obtaining his high school diploma when he joined the Navy in September 1946. He was honorably discharged in January of 1950.

Robert then went to Naponee, Nebraska to seek employment. There he met his wife-to-be, Gladys Loschen of Upland, Nebraska.
They were married on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1950.

They moved to Washington and back to Nebraska several times seeking employment.
Robert and Gladys finally settled in Denver, Colorado in July of 1956.

Robert worked at the Gates Rubber Company for 30 years. He retired in June of 1987.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and bowling with his family and friends. He was a handy man of all trades. If something was broke, he would fix it.

Robert and Gladys were members of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Denver for over 65 years.
They celebrated their 70th anniversary this past November.

He leaves behind his wife, Gladys; son, Robert of Denver; daughter, Joyce (Larry) Traub of Georgetown, Indiana; and son, Randy (Peggy) of Morrison, Colorado.
He has 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on July 14, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am, both at Newcomer West Chapel, 901 S. Sheridan Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado, 80226

A Private Burial will be held at Fort Logan.
