Newcomer Funeral Home East Metro Chapel.
God had dad's room ready and called for him on Thursday, December 30, 2010.
Bob was born on April 30, 1918 and grew up on a farm in Janesville, Minnesota. He married Berneice (McIver) on January 9, 1954.
In 1960, Bob, Berneice, and their five children moved to Colorado where he attended barber school. In June 1962, the family moved to the house where Bob lived out the rest of his life.
Bob and his family became members of the St Pius X Parish in 1962, where he served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister. He was also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Berneice passed away on January 5, 1966. Bob then took on the role of father and mother in raising his five children, ranging in age, at the time from 6 – 10.
Bob owned and operated Bob's Barber Shop on East Colfax and Havana, in Aurora, CO from August 1963 to April 1983, where he heard and told an infinite number of jokes and tall tales. Bob continued to cut hair until the age of 79. However, the stories and jokes continued to brighten people's days for the rest of his life.
Once Bob fully retired from barbering, he enjoyed attending daily mass at St. Pius X.
Bob is survived by a sister Rose Buckley, his five children JoAnn Kirkegaard (Larry); Bob (Kathy), Jeff (Rae), Patrice Tooker (John), and Mike (Kathy), his five grandchildren Christopher Tooker, Jessica Tooker, Steven and Jason Cunningham, and Patrick Cunningham in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also preceded in death by his parents George and Margaret, brothers George (Judd), Frank, Arthur, Eddie, Tom (Tommy), and sister Margaret (Sevik).
O gentlest Heart of Jesus, ever present in thy blessed sacrament ever consumed with thy burning love for the poor captive souls of purgatory.
Have mercy on the soul of thy departed servant, Bob, be not severe in thy judgment and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed, in the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
Bob, dad and grandpa will be greatly missed.
