Robert J. Langkamp

January 8, 1936 — August 17, 2022

IN LOVING MEMORY OF
ROBERT J. LANGKAMP
1936 – 2022

Robert J. Langkamp, of Golden, CO, peacefully passed away at the age of 86 on August 17, 2022. Bob was born on January 8, 1936, in Dubuque, IA, and is the third son of Irene (Berning) and Carl E. Langkamp. Bob grew up in Rockford, IL, where he graduated from West High School, Class of 1953. He chose the printing trade and worked for Berg Sundberg Printing Co. and Kennedy Press.

In 1954, Bob met Donna Lee Suessmith, at a YMCA square dance and two years later they were married. In October 1957, a daughter, Pamela Ann was born and almost five years later, in May 1962, their son Mark Alan was born. Bob was a loving husband and father and enjoyed spending time with his family. He took the family to Estes Park, CO on many vacations and decided that Colorado would be a wonderful place to raise a family. In November 1968, Bob moved his family to Denver, CO.

Bob took a printing sales job with Eastwood Printing and quickly worked his way to a Vice President position, but Bob had always wanted his own printing business, so he left Eastwood Printing and bought Hotchkiss Map and Printing Co. in 1972. Bob built and expanded the business successfully, and Bob always attributed all his successes as blessings from God. He sold the business in 1984. Bob gave retirement a shot but soon became restless, which then led him into a partnership in San Juan Pools which in turn led Bob to be the creator and owner of Gemini Fiberglass Products. This company too became successful at aquaculture fish tanks to fish hatcheries, Denver Aquarium and Sea World. Bob finally retired at 80 years old.

Bob loved to read, golf, play card games, and bowling (for which he had two sanctioned 300 games). He was also a member of the Lions Club and the Denver Press Club. Bob loved traveling best of all though and he and Donna saw many beautiful countries around the world, but Hawaii USA was his favorite destination, especially with family and dear friends.

Again, Bob has always been a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. He has been a blessing in our lives and although it's hard to let him go, we know he is with God in heaven watching over us now. He will always be in our hearts.

Bob is survived by his wife, Donna, daughter Pam Smith and son Mark (Bridget). He is also survived by grandchildren Brandy (Chad) Laszlo, Mark Langkamp Jr., Nicholas (Renay) Smith, Emily (Adam) Davenport, Angela Hone, Darren James Hone, and Aaron (Christina) Nelson.

Great grandchildren include Kara Ann and Madalin Smith, Emma and Charlotte Laszlo, Banks and Parker Nelson, Reyna and Coralyn, Lillian Grace Davenport and baby brother Davenport to be born in December. Bob is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Aschtgen.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Carl Langkamp, and brothers Donald, William, and Thomas Langkamp.
