Robert Lee Wilson, 83, died at home early Friday morning, Oct. 12 in Thornton, Co, after a lengthy illness. He graduated from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, Honeywell and Continental Airlines in Denver, Then he joined the F.A.A. where he retired in 1974.
Robert was born December 11, 1923 in Rushville, Missouri, the fifth child of thirteen, born to James and Cora Wilson. He joined the U.S. Navy during WWII, and served on a P.T. boat in the South Pacific. He met his wife, Marjorie Hedge, a nurse, while a patient at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Newport, R.I. They were married at the naval chapel on May 18, 1946. During their 61 years together, they were blessed with 3 children. Roger, Cindy, and Laurie, and 9 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 5 brothers. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of Thornton, CO; children, Roger Wilson, Westminster, CO; Cindy Leoffler, Midland, TX; Laurie Wilcox and her husband Jack, of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Christopher Wilson, and his wife Jessica, of Victoria, BC; Valerie Leoffler, and her husband David Sanchez of Webster, TX; Kevin Leoffler, San Diego, CA; Craig Leoffler, Midland, TX; Jacqueline Wilcox, Aurora, CO; Jonathan Wilcox, Aurora, CO; Garrett, Ashley, and Tracy Wilcox, Phoenix, AZ; 2 brothers, James and Ralph; 5 sisters, Fern, Maxine, Virginia, June, and Ruth.
