Robert Eugene (Bob) Lopeman was born 9/30/31 in Buffalo Co., Nebraska to Claude and Helen Stephenson. His parents divorced when he was an infant and he was raised by his grandparents and aunts and uncles. He grew up with his cousins that were like siblings to him. Later in life he did find many half siblings and other family from his father's side of the family.
In 1949 Bob enlisted and the Army and was shipped to Korea, where he was an MP. After returning from Korea he returned to civilian life. He met, fell in love with and married (Elma) Pauline Lammers 4/9/1955. After having their first two son's Mike and Tom, Bob enlisted in the Air Force. The family was stationed in Amarillo, Texas where they had another son Rick and a daughter Laurie who was stillborn. During this time Bob was steadily taking trainings and classes. They were stationed in Riverside, California and then Nebraska. In 1969 Bob was sent to Vietnam. He worked in supply in Vietnam and received the Bronze Star.
In 1974 Bob retired from the Air Force and began his career in Civil Service where he helped design the computers, logistics systems and taught at Lowry Air Force Base. He also took many classes during this time to complete a Master's Degree in Business Administration. During this time he remained an avid bowler, Nuggets/Rockies/Bronco fan, gardener and fisherman.
Bob was active in the church, helping in many different roles. He also helped to organize cooking for and feeding less fortunate individuals from around the area. He spent a great deal of time not only providing food but mentoring some of these individuals.
After Pauline's death Bob was very lonely. He was fortunate enough to find a second love (Elva) Ele Costa. They were married 1/19/2012. They were able to share his love of bowling and gardening.
