Robert Martin Schuckman
April 13, 1938 - February 11, 2021
Robert "Bob" Schuckman, 82, passed away at Advanced Health Care in Aurora, Colorado. He was the youngest son of 14 siblings born to Fred and Anna (Legleiter) Schuckman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and two sisters.
Born and raised on a farm in Liebenthal, Kansas, he graduated from Schoenchen High School in Schoenchen, Kansas, in 1956. On June 18, 1956, he married Isabelle Jacobs of Pfeifer, Kansas. The day after the wedding they moved to Denver, Colorado.
First and foremost he loved his family. In addition to his wife, Isabelle of almost 65 years, he is survived by son, Russell (Norma) Schuckman; daughters Rebecca Dudley; Ramona (Jose) Laborda; Rhonda Hillis; Roberta (Stan) Barnett; and son, Randall (Leiloni) Schuckman; 17 grandchildren and 25 great grand-children. Also surviving are two of his sisters, Lucy (Julius "Jim") Unrein, Hays, Kansas, and Edna Miles of Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his son-in-law, Frank Dudley, grandson, Bryce Barnett, grandson-in-law, Larry Rauh, grandson-in-law, Preston Becker and granddaughter-in-law, Naomi Barnett.
He also loved his work. His career as a union plumber spanned 60 years, 35 of which were as a master plumber and sole proprietor of Schuckman Plumbing and Heating.
When not working, he loved being involved in the community. Specifically, as a longtime founding member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Aurora; many years in the Knights of Columbus, including a stint as Grand Knight; and, most especially, his more than a decade-long association with Aurora Boys Baseball where he served as President, Board member, and Coach. He wanted it known that he was a lifelong Dodger fan. Besides Dodger Stadium, he visited 20 other major league ballparks.
His physical presence - 6' 5-3/4", 300 lbs., size 15 shoes, was matched by his strength of character, ever-present sense of humor, love of singing and travel (37 states and 7 foreign countries). Some have said "fun" should have been his middle name.
Cremation has occurred and a Celebration of Life will take place when it is safe (Covid) to do so.
