Robert Winslow Shideler (Bob) was born in Denver on December 26, 1934, to Edna and Robert Wilmer Shideler,
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years Maxine Thompson Shideler; sister Betty Jo Baze; children Nancy Hicks and Robert Wayne Shideler; Grandchildren Mandy (Hicks) Mullikin, Brittany Hicks, Braden Hicks and Katie Shideler; Great Grandchildren Trey, Kellen and Harper Mullikin. Grandson Robert Wesley Shideler was waiting for Bob and they are enjoying one another now.
Bob graduated from North High School in 1953 and Denver University in 1958 with a teaching degree. He taught history, economics, and current events at a wide variety of schools starting with Hill Junior High, South High School, East High School and then "post-retirement" at Cornerstone Christian Academy for 10 years.
Never to be one to let the grass grow under his feet, also during the teaching years was in the National Guard Army Reserves (where he eventually retired as a Lt. Colonel), created and ran RW Painting home painting company in the summers, and had an active real estate license, owned rental properties and took his family on numerous camping trips to find fish and raspberries.
He gathered friends wherever he went and was the favorite of students, waitresses, clients, co-workers, hospital staff, and in home care professionals. He will be missed by many.
On December 5, 2023, Bob passed away in his sleep lying next to Maxine 3 weeks before his 89th birthday in his home in Wheatridge. He was on no medications, in no pain and had been gradually declining for 2 1/2 years in hospice at home. A life well lived and finished.
