Robert L. Stover , 89, of Aurora, passed away May 19, 2019.
He was born September 24, 1929 in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Charles and Josephine (Haneberg) Stover. He was a graduate of St. John's Catholic School High School in 1947. After graduation he attended Coyne Electical Trade School in Chicago, Illinois and received his diploma in 1948. In October 1950, Bob enlisted in the Kansas Army National Guard. He achieved the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged in October 1953.
On November 22, 1951, he married Rita Roy.
Bob was a 60-year member of the Littleton Elks Lodge #1650 where he was a Past Exalted Ruler and volunteered for many of the Elks activities. While living in Kansas, he was active with the Knights of Columbus. He was also a parishioner at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Bob was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion in Aurora.
Bob worked for the City of Aurora as an Electrician for many years and retired from this position.
Bob enjoyed woodworking. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. Bob liked boating and fishing. Bob liked to travel with his family. He was an avid card player and bowled for many years.
Robert is survived by four sons, Rodney Joseph (Janet) Stover, Robert David (Beth) Stover, Timothy Lee (Joann) Stover and Daniel Lynn (Deb) Stover; three daughters, Julie Ann Vigil, Patti Sue (Robert) Strauch and Karen Ann (Eldon) LaBarge; sixteen grandchildren, Jill (Rick) Weisner, Christel (Steve) Burke, Danielle (Eric) Markley, Summer (Len) Melvin, Chad (Laura) LaBarge, Jessica Seacrest, Krista Almy, Rheannon (Tony) Weaver, Phillip Stover, Austin Stover, Katelyn Stover, Joshua Stover, Derrick (Kelby) Strauch, Justin (Rachel) Strauch, Kelcey Strauch and Sabrina Vigil; , 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Charles Michael (Roberta) Stover; sister, Charlene (Joe) Hewitt-Yager; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rita Stover; daughter-in-law, Kim Stover; son-in-law, Joel Vigil; grandson, Luke Stover; father, Charles Joseph Stover; mother, Josephine Rose Stover and brother, Donald R. Stover.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob's name to the Littleton Lodge Scholarship/ Charity Fund, 5749 S Curtice St, Littleton, CO 80120.
