**In Loving Memory of Rodney Kent Mayes**

Rodney Kent Mayes, a cherished soul born on April 29, 1946, in the vibrant city of Denver, Colorado, left this world on July 28, 2024, enveloped by the love of his family after a valiant battle with emphysema. In his final moments, the warmth of his loved ones surrounded him, a testament to the bonds he fostered throughout his life.

Rod's legacy lives on through his devoted wife of 49 years, Barbara, by his side through thick and thin. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, now including two sons, Chris (and his wife Nancy), Ty, and two beloved daughters, Carrie (and her husband Mark) and Audra (and her husband Josh). He was also a proud brother to Ronnie (Karen) and Norman. Rod's heart swelled with joy as he cherished the laughter and light brought by his eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each a precious jewel in the tapestry of his life. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Dorothy Mayes, and his great-grandchild Jeramyah, who preceded him in death.

With a spirit of bravery and dedication, Rod served his country in the United States Marine Corps from June 7, 1966, to June 6, 1968, as a 0341-MOS Mortarman, exemplifying the courage and camaraderie of the 13th Marine Regiment, 5th Marine Division, out of Camp Pendleton, California. His service was marked not just by duty, but by a commitment to his fellow Marines and his country.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 2 PM at Purpose Church, 9993 County Road 11 in Firestone, Colorado. He will find his eternal resting place at Fort Logan National Cemetery, a serene tribute to his life and service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, ensuring that Rod's legacy of love and support continues to inspire others.

Rodney Kent Mayes will be dearly missed but forever remembered—a remarkable man whose love and strength touched the lives of many.
