Roger was born on November 8, 1938 to Ralph and Margaret Wersch in Bloomington, IL; he passed away on April 19, 2020 due to complications of the Coronavirus. He attended schools in Illinois, Oregon and Colorado then enlisted in the US Navy, serving from 1956 through 1959. He returned to Denver after he was discharged where he met and married his first wife Patty and the had 2 sons. In 1980, after a divorce he married his second wife Irene (Renee) who also had 2 sons. Roger and Renee were married for 37 years, then divorced, but remained special friends until his death.
He was an industrial painter by trade and a member of the Painters and Drywall Finishers Local Union 39. He retired after 40 years having worked for various contractors. During his working years, he worked on many of the new and old buildings in downtown Denver and throughout the metropolitan area. He also worked on Denver International Airport from start to finish. Upon retiring Roger enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved telling stories.
Roger is survived by his ex-wife and special friend Irene (Renee) Wersch, his sons, Kerry (Sue) and Sean (Martha) Wersch; step sons Jim (Vickie) and Randy (Angie) Persons; 10 grandchildren, Jared, Shannon, Samuel, Joseph, Seth, Tiffany, Jessica, Gavi, Scott and Bradley; and two great grandchildren, Tristen and Carter.
Roger's remains will be interred with military honors at Ft. Logan Cemetery at a later date.
