Ronald "Ronnie" Dean Straub
Ronald Dean Straub was born February 27, 1941 at the family home in Idaho Springs, CO. He died March 11, 2008 at his home in Lakewood, CO. He was the youngest of seven children born to C. Irving and Pearl Ann (Hoban) Straub.
Ron attended school in Idaho Springs and graduated from Idaho Springs High School in 1959. After graduation, he joined the US Navy and was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He served aboard several ships in the Pacific and off the coast of Siberia and received an Honorable Discharge in 1963. Upon returning home he worked with his brothers in their heating and air conditioning business until joining Natkin & Company in 1968 where he worked until his retirement in 1996. He was a 33 year member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #9.
Ron was an avid sports fan and there was always some type of ball game on the telvision set. He was a coach for the Green Mountain Little League Football Association from 1968 to 1990 and also served as President of that Association. He loved coaching the boys and many friendships were formed. He was always "Coach" to those boys he was in touch with as adults.
He had a love of music, especially classical and original rock and roll. His favorite musical artist is Elvis Presley.
He married Shirley Verdeen Lamb on June 20, 1965 in Idaho Springs, CO. To this union three children were born: Debra Rene', Shannon Rae, and Brian Christopher. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Maxine, a brother, John, sister-in-law, Kathleen Straub, and brother-in-law, Norman Buckley.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley, his children, Debra (A.J.) Tazz, Shannon (Ron) Sutton of Lakewood, CO and Brian of Denver, CO, five grandchildren, Connor and Annalise Tazz, Deanna, Meagan, and Caitlin Sutton. He is also survived by one sister, Jacqueline Buckley of Los Angeles, CA, three brothers, Louis (Rita) of Denver, Leonard (Mary) of Grand Junction and Glen (Winnie) of Idaho Springs, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
