Ronald Rome Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend born to Raymond and Genevieve (Reidel) Rome in St. Peter, Kansas. He was 8 of 12 children and attended St. Anthony's parochial school with his brothers and sisters that allowed him to meet the Love of his Life, Barbara Billinger. and they later married and had a daughter Laurie. He moved away from the farm and spent most of his adult life as owner/operator Hoffman Heights Barbershop in Aurora off 6th and Peoria until his retirement.
He knew so many jokes and would share them with his Family/Customers/Friends and in response would learn more jokes to build his repertoire! He loved to laugh and share this laughter. His music of choice was Polkas as he grew up in a German community in that small town of St. Peter, Kansas, and would drive for miles to socialize and Polka dancing. He loved his Denver Broncos, and Colorado Rockies, and he himself was an avid competitive bowler. He knew so much as he was a "Jack of All Trades!" he knew construction (built an incredible cabin in South Park, Colorado with his Wife, Daughter, Brother Neil, Sister-in-Law MaryAnn, and their Daughter Janice), he knew electrical wiring/gardening/farming/auto mechanics/business management/woodworking, and taught himself to repair antique clocks, and so much more! He Loved to socialize whether it was work or playas he was a "People Person" to the extreme!
He is preceded in Death by his Parents Raymond and Genevieve Rome, Brothers Sim, Adolph, and Wayne Rome, Sisters Mary Wilmont and Delcie Knaack.
He leaves behind his wife Barbara (married for 62 years), Daughter Laurie and her Husband Michael McCleery, Granddaughter Melissa Wyman and her Fiancé Shannon Garcia, Grandson Michael Cole McCleery and his Love Alisa Katsman, Great-Grandson Maverick Cole McCleery along with Brothers/Brothers-in Law/Sisters-in-Law, Nieces/Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Pius X in Aurora that is restricted to immediate Family and Friend in Colorado due to COVID19 restrictions with a maximum capacity of 100 parishioners, otherwise it might have had to be held in the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception due to the number of lives he had touched and loved. There will not be a reception following the Mass, but a Celebration of Life gathering will be later this Summer once COVID restrictions are through.
In lieu of Flowers, the Family requests that a donation be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
We will be recording the Mass with details to follow with a link on Facebook under Michael E. McCleery
Eternal Rest, Grant unto Him O Lord,
and Perpetual Light shine upon Him,
May He Rest In Peace,
Amen
