Rose Mary Senn

March 30, 1943 — April 10, 2023

Rose Mary Senn passed away on April 10, 2023 leaving her family heartbroken but knowing she's now walking hand and hand with her beloved husband Duane.

Rose Mary (Jorgensen) was born on March 30, 1943 in Valley City, North Dakota and raised in Luverne ND. She was the first of her siblings to be born in a hospital to Hans and Dagny Jorgensen who lost their first son, Hans, after venturing to the United States from Denmark to farm.

Rose Mary married the love of her life, Duane Albert Senn, on June 3, 1962. Duane spotted Rose Mary first at a rival school alumni basketball game where she was playing against her older sister, Ruth. The game got quite heated and Rose Mary managed to jump on Ruth's back during the game to keep her from getting the ball. These clever and unconventional point guard skills left quite an impression on Duane. The first time they actually met Rose Mary was working the concession stand and Duane patiently waited for her to be done to go talk to her. They were inseparable from that night on.

Rose Mary and Duane moved to Colorado in 1971. Their daughters Denise and Traci were born just a few years after arriving in Aurora, Colorado keeping her busy with swimming lessons, softball games, piano lessons, band, and orchestra. Her house was frequently the go-to-stop after school from her daughter's friends because she always had something freshly baked waiting, her peanut butter kiss cookies a favorite. She also found plenty of time to take cooking classes, macrame classes, and learned how to wall paper and put her skills to use in almost every bedroom in the house.

Rose Mary was a tireless volunteer at her girls' schools and loved being involved. She was a PTA Queen, first volunteering in the library at their elementary school and eventually running every bake sale with precision and success. As Hinkley High School PTA President she put together the most successful school fundraiser in their history. She nearly single handedly put together the 25th Anniversary CookBook. When she didn't get enough recipes she solicited family and neighbors, wrote to anyone she could think of, and even included a recipe from former First Lady Nancy Reagan. Her efforts were evidenced by almost every page having a recipe on it from the Senn/Jorgensen family and requiring multiple printings of the cookbook to keep up with demand.

Rose Mary loved her garden tremendously, had a green thumb, and miraculously never seemed to have any weeds in her garden. Her garden would yield giant pumpkins, an endless supply of zucchini, the juiciest tomatoes and the crunchiest carrots. She would often give her girls the job of bringing the bucket into the garden to put the giant tomato worms into, and still managed to pass on her love of gardening to them. Because of her influence the backyard 'farming' tradition continues to be strong in the family.

Rosemary was completely selfless. She always took care of everyone else before she'd even think about herself. She passed on great words of wisdom like, "Better to go to the doctor once too many, than once not enough." That family is everything, and if you can help someone out you do! She loved deeply and unconditionally, she was understanding and forgiving. Kind, giving, tenderhearted she never had a bad word to say about anyone. That was Rose Mary.

Perhaps the most important thing to Rose Mary were her grandchildren. She loved helping take care of them a few days a week, and did so with each and every one. Going to the park to feed the ducks, shopping at the bookstore, playing hopscotch outside, making cupcakes, she was an all around fun grandma. She formed a special bond with each grandchild and will be forever missed.

Rose Mary is survived by her daughters Denise Weed (Michael Weed), Traci Waters (Trent Waters), grandchildren Darrien, Diego, Alec, Abbi, Jackson, Jaylynn, Preston, and Annabelle, great grandchildren Ava and Elly. She is also survived by siblings Ruth Berger, Alvin Jorgensen, and Bev McAllister and was preceded in death by Myrtle Madsen, and Jens, Frank, Ray and Kenny Jorgensen.
