ALBANY – Rosina Pomidoro, 86, died on Friday, November 10, 2006 at 2:20 p.m. at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany, NY.
Born in the Carnesie section of Brooklyn, she moved to Westmere in 1950 where she lived at 2 Arlene Avenue until 2003. At that time Rosina went to the McAuley Residence for a short period until her stay at the Daughters of Sarah in October of 2003.
Rosina loved crafts, flea markets, garage sales but best of all was her enjoyment and passion of antiques. In a different life mother would have loved to have owned an antique shop. It would always be a surprise when she opened the trunk of her 1960 Edsel convertible to see what the new purchase was. In later years Rosina was a great fan of the cooking shows and older movies. She also became a Democrat and opposed the war in Iraq.
Rosina was married 62 years to the late Michael Henry Pomidoro until his passing in 2001. She is survived by two sons, Thomas of Rochester and Michael of Loudonville; a sister Lucy Manero of Plainview, NY: two granddaughters, Rose and Lee Ann and many nieces and nephews.
The family's appreciation, thanks and love goes to the staff of the Daughters of Sarah, especially to those working on the red unit who we thank for their kindness and help to Rosina. In addition, our appreciation also goes to Hospice for their time and sympathy.
At the family's request, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Landis Arboretum, P.O. Box 186, Esperance, NY 12066.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to www.newcomerfamily.com
Mother will be greatly missed. It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to this gentle soul.
